A question

Source

You know there are some things that bother people so much it drives them crazy. Sometimes, we find it so difficult to say exactly what we are thinking because it will not go down well with someone or because people will consider you crazy.

I have spoken to some people and I have attended quite a number of weddings in my life. I have argued so many times that the purpose of a marriage is not for procreation only; there’s companionship and help meet (that’s how it’s spelt, right?).  It peeves me when people (family and friends) start counting for a couple as soon as they are married like if there’s no baby after 9 months, then there’s a problem.

Personally, I don’t want to have babies so early into marriage. Can’t I just enjoy the other 2 reasons why people get married for a while before starting a family? I told my mom once that I would like to wait a couple of years before having a baby and she freaked; going on and on about how life doesn’t wait and how there’s no reason to wait if you are not having delays. I just want to believe she was in a mood that day.
I watched “Change of Plans” recently. I love that movie; not necessarily because of the story line but because the couple had been married for 5 years and had a mutual agreement that having children was not in their playbook. I wouldn’t call it playbook but you get the idea.

Why don’t I want to rush into having babies?

I have heard stories and I have seen drama. You have a baby and you have to leave the child at home everyday in the care of one nanny whom you are not sure truly likes you or your child. You leave before the child wakes up and by the time you’re back, baby is asleep. You cannot sacrifice your well-paying job to be a stay-at-home mom. I do not blame people who can’t leave their jobs to play the mommy; the state of the nation doesn’t really let that happen but where is the care and love and attention children deserve in their growing up years especially in this age where solid family values have become a thing of the past?

Eventually, I want to have babies but I also want to take care of my babies by myself and train them the same way my mom trained me because she didn’t have a job that took her away all the time. I also love to work; I love the office setting and furniture and work stations and bosses and nice clothes and meetings and people that pretend to care and all of that and I know that I am not cut out for any kind of business of my own.

Am I talking about sacrifices here? Yes I absolutely am!
Does it make me look like a weak woman who expects that her husband should be the major financial backbone of the house? I don’t know.
Is this a wrong way to think? That is my question.

Out and About

Took me five minutes to put a title on this post; so if it's not appropriate, please forgive me.

My brothers and sisters, the devil is most definitely a liar. I have never ever been this busy in my entire life. Even when I was dealing with my final year project and I thought my life was over, it wasn’t this crazy.  MsTizzle, I had promised myself to get this post up today and then I saw your “message”; thank you very much for looking out for me, I appreciate. God bless you.

First, all of you women that have babies please tell me that child birth is not as painful as toothache and I will start reconsidering having babies again. I had one major toothache two weeks ago and that is the worst pain I’ve suffered in my whole life. It was too painful and it made me wonder how women feel during child birth. I couldn’t eat, drink, sleep or even think sef; my head was just pounding. Thank God for small and big mercies sha, the toothache went before sallah so I was able to eat meat :D

I’m excited.
The sweet Sugarspring gave me this award. I’m supposed to write 7 random stuff about myself and I was torn between making them serious or funny random stuff. This is it now anyway; so decide whether it falls on the serious or funny side for you.

Rules
  •  Thank the person who gave you the award
Massive shout out to Lady Sugarspring. Thanks a lot girl; you rock. The picture of you I have in my head is that of a funny, painfully honest and happy person who sometimes has a lot of drama; I hope I’m right. Thank you again. iAppreciate.

  • 7 Randoms about Myself
  1. I love God very much and Jesus is my hommie. Took me long to wrap my head around the love of God for me but I’ve learnt and I’m still learning and I’m grateful that I have the privilege of experiencing God’s love. In my little way, I try to love Him back too.
  2. I’m extremely awesome at remembering things, events and people. As long as I see your face once, I will remember you and everything I know about you. Even if I have never met you, as long as I’ve seen your picture, I’ll remember you and all I know about you. My family members know who to come to when they need to remember an incident from 15 or 20 years ago.
  3. I love loud music. I live in constant fear of damaging my ear someday because of earphones and loud music. I love rock music and I mean; if rock music isn’t loud, then why are you listening to it at all? If it’s not loud music, then it’s not me.
  4. I can wear tank top for Africa. I’m comfortable going anywhere with tank top and jeans. I know this is because our weather isn’t too cold and I’m thankful for that. I believe one day, I’ll host a party and the dress code will be tank top and jeans. Please be prepared.
  5.  I hate the sound of car horns. You have no idea how much; especially those people that sleep on the horn like they never had those toy trumpets when they were growing up. It’s a huge turn off for me; I automatically dislike people who sleep on their car horns (even if they look like Adam Levine or C. Ronaldo)
  6. Chickens scare me. You know those ones that have chicks and move around with them; they scare me. There’s a story behind that but I’m not telling so y’all don’t choke on laughter; just let’s say I was very naughty as a child. #Shikena.
  7. You may or may not know this, but I will marry C. Ronaldo one day. #EndOfStory (If you do not know who he is, please ensure you ask Mr. Google). Thank you.
So that’s it. :D Please permit me to skip rules 3 and 4 for now; I’ll add them later. I feel really selfish for doing that, but I'm sorry.

#InOtherNews My birthday is in 2 weeks :D :D :D I’m kinda looking forward to it *dancing azonto*

Okay, by now, I believe you've had enough of my scattered brain. Bye..

On a serious note, think on these words: "Take the risk of thinking for yourself- much more happiness, truth, beauty and wisdom will come to you that way" Christopher Hitchens.

Have a lovely week and have a fantastic November. God bless you. Kisses.

4 Years On...

This is going to be short, please bear with me.
This is dedicated to my most beloved father. Happy birthday Daddy. You would have been 54 years old today, but the day you clocked 50, was the same day you left this world. I remember you today as always and all the lessons I learnt from you remain ever fresh in my head and heart. Your smile, your baritone voice and your unusual ability to love still remain etched in my memory.
Well, here I am at the end of one of the most major phases of my life and I can only wish to see you once again. Alas, I cannot. I miss you greatly Dad, I love you and I pray/hope everyday even up until now that this is some form of joke, that maybe, just maybe, you aren't actually gone.
It has not been the same without you, I want you to know that, but the grace of God has been more than sufficient.
Well, I hope God gives you a window in heaven just to see how much you mean to us. Thank you for being the bestest dad in the world. I could never have asked for anyone better.
Rest in Peace Dad. (July 17, 1957- July 17, 2007).

p.s: pls forgive any typos.

OMG, I'm growing old!!!

Last weekend, my grandma celebrated her 70th birthday and it was awesome. I mean, even with the presence of so many family members, there was still so much peace around, you know, as it always happens, if it's not food, it's bed space or foot wears or food that will cause the quarrels. Thank God though, we didn't end up shouting at ourselves and leaving angry.

So all my cousins were around, and being the oldest female cousin, I had to look out for everybody. On Saturday night, I tried to gather all the cousins together for a little reunion, and that was when I discovered that I'm growing old, really fast.  I remember when my smallest cousin was born, and now, she's almost six years old. Wow! The older ones are either almost out of university or already in university. How did I grow up so fast? When did I stop being the little child? Chei!!!

Anyway, so it was really nice to see everyone of them again and it made me realize that though I might still be a child to my mother, I'm beginning to have very many younger ones coming behind that I might be responsible for, in one way or the other. (we are like 20 of us altogether, and still counting). Also, as much as we may be miles apart, family always plays an important role in our lives and as much as possible, we should always keep them close. I know some family members do not and will never deserve any form of kindness, but the fact is they will remain family, even with all of their flaws.
