Hair has become gold now!!!

I'm not here to play or write random things or look around. Today, I am really angry and the cause of my anger is hair.

These days ehn, hair(extensions, weavons, attachments or whatever you'd like to call them) has become so painfully expensive that I wish I was older and way past all of this 2011 nonesense. Thanks to the lace front hair, brazillian hair, Peruvian hair,Indian hair, Remmy hair and all the other "hairs" that are available right now, common Premium too is now getting expensive. Oh, and did I forget to say that they have started packaging it like the brazillians now. Mchewww.

So I wanted to make my hair today and on getting to the place where they sell the"common" hair extensions that we know, I met different ridiculous brands of extensions, some I haven't even heard before; there was this one called chocolate which was of three different types: One that had Tonto Dike on the pack was the cheapest, and then 2 other ones that were of higher quality than the first one and even more expensive.

My point exactly is that by the time I finished calculating the money for the extensions and the money I would actually use to make the hair, I was weak to my bones and well, since my hair is long, I decided I would just continue to endure the pain of combing it every morning until God provides some means of making the hair of my choice. Call me stingy or "Akagum", I do not care. I don't have maga or anybody that will gladly drop some ridiculous amount of money for me to make my hair, I have to find my own way around these things.

What happened to the days of Darling Yaki or the likes, although I'd rather scrape my hair off than use that now, but seriously, this hair thing is getting really painful. Then you go out and see all these thin-legged girls flaunting their 30 inches Brazilian hair touching their pelebe yansh and lace front hair that was definitely not properly fixed like say na them own the factory. We know what you do and no, I will never be tempted to do that.

I guess at the end of the day, I'll just buy bending rollers and hair straightener and perform some magic on my own hair. Just watch out for miracles.

I made it this far

Hello everyone. It's been about a month that I've been on here. It's great to be back here, it makes me feel that there is still some sanity left in me.

Okay, over the past four weeks, I've gone on a complete stretch of my body soul and spirit. I have gone from tests to defense and to examinations in four weeks, but as you might have guessed, God was once again too faithful to fail. My exams were wonderful and my defense was awesome. I was extremely favored.

Now, I've got so much time on my hands(at least I think so) and in the course of this "break", I hope to make the best use of all the opportunities available to me especially to develop myself.

In other news, forgive me if you think I'm stale, no be my fault, but last night, I read that one of the great men that really inspire me passed on. I'm talking of GT Bank boss, Tayo Aderinokun. I think what hurt me more is the fact that he died from cancer. The next time I hear of any good person that dies from cancer, I would literally walk up to heaven and ask God why.  This life sha, the people wey suppose die, na dem dey celebrate 100, 120 with all the government money they have stolen and the well-meaning, intelligent ones are the ones that die from stupid things such as cancer at ridiculous ages such as 56.
My sympathy and empathy goes to the family and the entire GT Bank community. But that man inspired me sha...

I've got a major celebration coming up in a few weeks and I'm so excited about it, just watch out.

Here's wishing everyone a wonderful week. Go out there and be the change the world wants to see...

OMG, I'm growing old!!!

Last weekend, my grandma celebrated her 70th birthday and it was awesome. I mean, even with the presence of so many family members, there was still so much peace around, you know, as it always happens, if it's not food, it's bed space or foot wears or food that will cause the quarrels. Thank God though, we didn't end up shouting at ourselves and leaving angry.

So all my cousins were around, and being the oldest female cousin, I had to look out for everybody. On Saturday night, I tried to gather all the cousins together for a little reunion, and that was when I discovered that I'm growing old, really fast.  I remember when my smallest cousin was born, and now, she's almost six years old. Wow! The older ones are either almost out of university or already in university. How did I grow up so fast? When did I stop being the little child? Chei!!!

Anyway, so it was really nice to see everyone of them again and it made me realize that though I might still be a child to my mother, I'm beginning to have very many younger ones coming behind that I might be responsible for, in one way or the other. (we are like 20 of us altogether, and still counting). Also, as much as we may be miles apart, family always plays an important role in our lives and as much as possible, we should always keep them close. I know some family members do not and will never deserve any form of kindness, but the fact is they will remain family, even with all of their flaws.

I read blogs, so what?

Hello dear bloggers, hope you had a nice weekend.

Yesterday, a friend asked me exactly what I'm doing reading people's blogs and making comments and why I always seem to visit the same sites every time I'm online. Apparently, she had been watching me read people's blogs and visit a couple of reader's/writer's blogs.

Well, the answer was very simple:"Inspiration". I'm always very grateful when I read certain things and I'm like "Wow, that's amazing" or I read something and it just answers some of the questions I have at that moment. That feeling is amazing and it makes me feel like this is where I'm supposed to be.

The lessons we learn from our daily activities such as tweeting or blogging or even from facebook are things that are most insightful, things that address some of the basic issues of our lives and though they are sometimes funny, they give us a good reason to laugh, and from experience, I can say that laughter is a wonderful thing, even on our worst days.

So, the next time you are reading something, don't just read it like it's a normal part of your day, read it like there's  something you will get from whatever that article is and even if it makes you laugh, please do, it's very refreshing.

Have a wonderful week and go out and make waves wherever you go!!!

The Art of Silence

This is probably the most profound thing I've said this year, so please read carefully.

Silence is an art that everyone should learn, but unfortunately, it seems to rate very high amongst thehardest lessons to learn in life.

Proverbs 17:28: "Even a fool, when he holds his peace, is counted wise: and he that shuts his lips is esteemed a man of understanding."

That's very profound and thought-provoking too. Many people I have met  in my life are not people who are exceptionally smart or have a reservoir of wisdom or wise sayings, they are just people who over the years have learnt thhe art of silence and have put it in practical use. If you don't believe me, then put it to test. Look for someone you believe is wise and try to have a meaningful conversation with them for an hour; if they fall into the "Silent" category, you'll likely find out that they aren't all in all at the end of the day.
So the question might be "why do we have to keep up appearances?"

The answer simply is whatever you train yourself to do over a period of time will eventually become a part of you. Work on yourself while learning to be silent and you'll be amazed how what you'll say one day will come across to someone like the best thing ever heard.
Word of caution: Don't be a snob while trying to be quiet, you'll just repel people.

In case you're wondering how to learn this art, try to ask yourself the following:

Why do I talk?
Where do I talk?
When do I talk?
How do I talk?
To whom do I talk?
Finally, before you say anything, ask yourself the following: "Is it necessary, Is it harmful and will it benefit someone?"
Tell me after this if you don't see the best coming out of you!!!

What have you given for Me?

There's this very crucial discussion that is usually left out during Easter celebrations and today, I couldn't miss it even if I wanted to.
There's this hymn that is titled "I gave my Life for Thee" and the whole point of the hymn is after all the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross, what sacrifice are we making for Him or what are we giving for Him and to Him?

It goes thus:

I gave my life for thee
My precious blood I shed
That thou might ransomed be
And quickened from the dead
I gave my lifer for thee;
What hast thou given for Me?

My Father's house of light
My glory-circled throne
I left for earthly night
For waanderings and lone
I left it all for thee;
What hast thou left for Me?

I suffered much for thee
More than thy tongue can tell
Of bitterest agony
To rescue thee from hell
I've borne it all for thee;
What hast thou borne for Me?

And I have brought to thee
Down from My home above
Salvation full and free
My pardon and my love
I bring rich gifts to thee;
What hast thou brought to Me?

I guess it's just simple. The sacrifice Jesus made for us was wort it. What are we doing to appreciate that sacrifice?

Where's the "Like" Button?

Hey people. Hope the weekend has been great for you as it has for me.

Thank God they didn't cancel the parliamentary elections again today, it would have been such a disgrace. Unfortunately, that's not my area of specialization or interest, so I won't say anything more about it.

I saw my brother yesterday and today. It's been such a long time, maybe two months or thereabout I saw him last and I was really glad to see him.

Sometimes, I wish there was the "Like" button on blogger. I was reading  HoneyDame's blog today on honeydame1.blogspot.com and I came across this post about Nigerian's donating blood and HIV Type O. Now, it wasn't actually the post that made me look for the like button, but the comments that followed the post. I couldn't stop smiling and thinking wow, Nigerians will never change.

God has been really faithful to me over the past few weeks. I have a lot going on for me; many of them good and some, not so good. The beautiful part is even in all of these things, I've learnt that God is too faithful to fail. His promises may seem delayed, but in the end, He always delivers and the more you believe, the faster He delivers(at least that's what I think)

So, I have this 'friend' I'm trying to let go of.  I don't want to be rude or anything, but I just need to know how to tell someone that you can't just be friends with the person. I mean, it won't be nice to tell someone "I can't just be friends with you" but at the same time, it won't do me any good to keep talking to you and I'm really angry for every moment I spend with you. So, ideas on how to be polite and still keep my distance is needed. Thanks in advance :)

I have tests next week, and my courses are boring. That's just the plain truth. Sometimes, I wonder who came up with the idea of education. It's a concept that has never been quite right with me. Anyway, whether I like it or not, I have to read, so I have to go.

Here's wishing you a week filled with God's blessings and favor.

"A future you don't actually build up will leave you behind or meet you by surprise. Change is happening so fast that it looks like a constant"

Peace xxx
